The Department of Information Science and Engineering (ISE) was established in 2006 with an annual intake of 60 students. The Department is strengthened by a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members and research scholars who are dedicated to academic excellence, innovative teaching, research, and nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students.
The Department is supported by the Skill and Career Development Cell (SCDC) and ShriTEK Innovations, a startup initiative of SIET, providing students with opportunities for skill enhancement, innovation, entrepreneurship, and career development.
The Department maintains active industry and institutional collaborations through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), facilitating industry exposure, internships, technical training, collaborative activities, and practical learning. Through these initiatives, the Department strives to nurture competent, innovative, ethical, and industry-ready professionals capable of contributing effectively to society and the technology sector.

Information Science and Engineering (ISE) is an engineering discipline under VTU, with an academic foundation closely aligned with Computer Science and Engineering. The programme provides students with strong expertise in software development, data analytics, information systems, and IT applications, while preparing them for emerging technology domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, and Data Science. With a strong emphasis on data management, computing technologies, and enterprise applications, ISE equips students to design and develop technology-driven solutions for real-world business and societal challenges. The programme also provides a strong foundation for diverse careers in the rapidly evolving IT and technology industry.
