DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established during the year 2004. Presently, the Department is offering two academic programs, one is a UG Program leading to BE in Mechanical Engineering and the other is a research program leading to Ph D in various specialized areas of Mechanical Engineering, The Department consists of well furnished classrooms and well equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities.

The Department also consists of well qualified, well experienced, devoted and dedicated faculty members. Right from its inception, the department is functioning with an aim to produce quality engineers in the area of Mechanical Engineering to suit needs of the modern industries and also to become entrepreneurs. The teaching methodology is planned to provide sound domain knowledge and also to develop the necessary skills.

OUR VISION

To strive to equip the essential knowledge and skills in students and transform them as competent mechanical engineers who can:Contribute to meet complex demands of modern industries Utilize their expertise to turn out to be entrepreneurs.

OUR MISSION

To incorporate innovative pedagogical techniques in the instructional process to provide sound domain knowledge in mechanical engineering To provide congenial atmosphere to promote academic research based on social needs.

HOD MESSAGE

I take the privilege to welcome you all to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Our department was established in the year 2004 and has produced nearly 15 batches of mechanical engineers till date. The emerged graduates are well placed in India and abroad. We have a team of well qualified, experienced, devoted and dedicated faculty members to cater to the needs of our students. We aim at developing hard skills as well as soft skills in our students. In addition to black board teaching we incorporate innovative pedagogical techniques in the instructional process for a better understanding of technical concepts. Power point presentations with required simulations will be presented to impart technical know-how to the students.Expert Lectures by renowned resource persons from both Industry and academia will be organized periodically to enlighten the students with latest development in the field. Technical Seminars, Workshops, organized periodically to develop practical skills

Mechanical engineering is a diverse and foundational branch of engineering that encompasses the design, analysis, and manufacturing of mechanical systems and devices. It plays a crucial role in virtually every industry, from automotive and aerospace to energy, manufacturing, and healthcare. Mechanical engineers are responsible for creating solutions that involve the generation and utilization of mechanical power, the design of machinery and mechanical systems, and the optimization of processes to improve efficiency and performance.

Design engineers are involved in conceptualizing, designing, and developing mechanical components and systems. They utilize CAD software and other tools to create detailed designs and ensure that products meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.Manufacturing engineers focus on optimizing production processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. They may work in industries such as automotive, aerospace, and consumer electronics, overseeing manufacturing operations and implementing lean manufacturing principle Project engineers or managers oversee engineering projects from inception to completion, coordinating resources, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring that projects meet technical requirements and client expectations.

1. Design and Innovation: Mechanical engineering programs emphasize creativity and innovation in design, providing students with opportunities to develop solutions to real-world problems through projects and coursework.
2. Advanced Simulation and Modeling: Students gain proficiency in using advanced software tools for simulation and modeling, allowing them to analyze complex mechanical systems and optimize designs.
3. Robotics and Automation: Mechanical engineering programs often include coursework and research opportunities in robotics and automation, preparing students for careers in fields such as manufacturing, aerospace, and healthcare.
4. Sustainable Engineering Practices: With a focus on sustainability, programs highlight the importance of designing and implementing environmentally friendly solutions, including renewable energy systems and efficient manufacturing processes.
5. Internship and Co-op Opportunities: Many programs offer internship and co-op opportunities with industry partners, providing students with hands-on experience and networking opportunities in various sectors.
6. Research and Development: Students have the chance to engage in cutting-edge research projects, collaborating with faculty members and industry partners to address challenges and advance the field of mechanical engineering.
7. Multidisciplinary Approach: Mechanical engineering programs often encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, allowing students to work alongside peers and faculty from other disciplines to tackle complex problems.
8. Professional Development: Programs offer resources and support for students to enhance their professional skills, including resume workshops, interview preparation, and networking events with alumni and industry professionals.
9. Global Perspective: With a focus on globalization, programs may offer study abroad opportunities or international exchange programs, allowing students to gain cross-cultural experiences and understand the global impact of mechanical engineering.
