DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established during the year 2004. Presently, the Department is offering two academic programs, one is a UG Program leading to BE in Mechanical Engineering and the other is a research program leading to Ph D in various specialized areas of Mechanical Engineering, The Department consists of well furnished classrooms and well equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities.

The Department also consists of well qualified, experienced, devoted and dedicated faculty members. Right from its inception, the department is functioning with an aim to produce quality engineers in the area of Mechanical Engineering to suit needs of the modern industries and also become entrepreneurs. The teaching methodology is planned to provide sound domain knowledge and also cultivate the necessary skills.

OUR VISION

To utilize the essential knowledge and skills in students for transforming them as competent mechanical engineers who in turn can utilize their expertise to become entrepreneurs and also contribute in meeting complex demands of modern industries.

OUR MISSION

•To incorporate innovative pedagogical techniques in the instructional process for providing sound domain knowledge in mechanical engineering.
•To provide a congenial atmosphere for promoting academic research based on social needs.

HOD MESSAGE

I take the privilege to welcome you all to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Our department was established in the year 2004 and has produced nearly 15 batches of mechanical engineers till date. The emerged graduates are well placed in India and abroad. We have a team of well qualified, experienced, devoted and dedicated faculty members to cater to the needs of our students. We aim at developing hard skills as well as soft skills in our students. In addition to black board teaching we incorporate innovative pedagogical techniques in the instructional process for a better understanding of technical concepts. Power point presentations with required simulations will be presented to impart technical know-how to the students.Expert Lectures by renowned resource persons from both Industry and academia will be organized periodically to enlighten the students with latest development in the field. Technical Seminars, Workshops, organized periodically to develop practical skills.

Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering that encompasses the design, analysis and manufacturing of mechanical systems and devices. It plays a crucial role in virtually every industry, from automotive and aerospace to energy, manufacturing, and healthcare. Mechanical engineers are responsible for creating solutions that involve the generation and utilization of mechanical power, the design of machinery and mechanical systems and also the optimization of processes for improving efficiency and performance.

Design engineers are involved in conceptualizing, designing, and developing mechanical components and systems. They utilize CAD software and other tools to create detailed design and ensure that products meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. Manufacturing engineers focus on optimizing production processes for improving efficiency, reducing costs and ensuring product quality. They may work in industries such as automotive, aerospace and consumer electronics, overseeing manufacturing operations and implementing lean manufacturing principle. Project engineers or managers oversee engineering projects from inception to completion, coordinating resources, managing budgets and schedules and ensuring that projects meet technical requirements and client expectations.

Design and Innovation: Mechanical engineering programs emphasize creativity and innovation in design, providing students with opportunities to develop solutions for real-world problems through projects and coursework.

Advanced Simulation and Modeling: Students gain proficiency in using advanced software tools for simulation and modeling, allowing them to analyze complex mechanical systems and optimize design.

Robotics and Automation:

Mechanical engineering programs often include coursework and research opportunities in robotics and automation, preparing students for career in fields like manufacturing, aerospace and healthcare.

Sustainable Engineering Practices: A series of  courses have been designed that highlight the importance of designing and implementing environmentally friendly solutions. They also include renewable energy systems and efficient manufacturing processes.

➎ Internship and Co-op Opportunities: Internships are taken up by students. They provide hands-on experience and networking opportunities in various sectors.

Research and Development:

Students have the chance to engage in cutting-edge research projects and collaborating with faculty members and industry partners for addressing challenges in the field of mechanical engineering.

Multidisciplinary Approach:

Mechanical engineering programs often encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, allowing students to work along with peers and faculty members from other disciplines for tackling complex problems.

Professional Development: Students are provided with additional skills for enhancing their job opportunities. These include preparation of biodata for attending interviews and also get opportunities for networking with alumni and industrial professionals.

Global Perspective: Students gain cross-cultural experiences and understand the global impact of mechanical engineering through learning courses from international exchange programs.
