The Department of Information Science and Engineering started functioning from the year 2006. The uniqueness of the Department lies in the fact that the skilled faculty members of the Department train the students not only in making effective use of information but also explore its usage in a variety of domains A set of  60 students are admitted each year.

Quality education coupled with ethical values and employment skills is imparted to all students. The Department is Supported by a modern Skill and Career Development Cell [SCDC] and ShriTEK Innovations a startup of SIET. The students obtained the necessary skills required to excel in the competitive IT sector. The Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SCII [A Japanese Multinational Software Company], Tumakuru, DGM Softwares Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, Infosys Ltd – CSR program under Infosys Springboard initiative, Capgemini’s Corporate Social Responsibility program to enable up to 100% placement with an  average salary of Rupees 12 Lakhs per year.

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Information Science and Engineering at Shridevi Institute of Engineering and Technology (SIET) in Tumakuru, I extend a warm welcome to everyone into the dynamic realm of ISE. We take great pride in providing our students with top-tier education, achieved through rigorous adherence to high teaching and learning standards. Our commitment to excellence transcends the classroom as we actively engage in organizing conferences, workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and various co-curricular activities. These initiatives broaden our students' horizons beyond the curriculum, enriching their professional journey significantly.

Information Science and Engineering (ISE) is a dynamic field that merges computer science, information technology and engineering principles. This interdisciplinary course equips students with the knowledge and skills to design, develop and manage information systems effectively. Through a blend of theory and practical applications, students learn about databases, network security, software engineering and logic design.

Information Science and Engineering (ISE), a multitude of career opportunities awaits. From software development to database administration, cybersecurity to data analytics, ISE professionals are sought after across diverse industries. With the increasing reliance on technology-driven solutions, ISE graduates have the chance to explore roles in areas such as system analysis, network administration and information architecture. Further, the adaptability of ISE skills enables individuals to pursue emerging fields like cloud computing, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) thereby ensuring a wide range of avenues for career growth and specialization.

➋ Project-Based Learning: Schemes like Sahyadri Project Support Scheme (SPSS) have been conducted which provide sufficient amount of hands – on experience.

➍ Skill Development Laboratories: Workshops are conducted on a periodic basis in exclusively designed  laboratories. This training is provided to students on both soft skills and technical aspects.

➎ Industry Exposure: Special talks are delivered by industrial experts from time to time. thereby enriching the information in students and keep them upto date. Besides, industries offer internships – where the theoretical knowledge of students are complimented with practical aspects.

➏ Entrepreneurship & Startup Culture: Students are encouraged to put their knowledge to practical use. Besides, the students gain leadership skills.

➐ Technical Writing Proficiency: Develop LATEX-based technical writing skills which is essential for research documentation and ultimately in conference and journal publications.

➑ Open-Source Promotion: Participation and actual involvement in clubs like Mozilla and Sahyadri Open source community has helped in fostering open source contributions and collaborations.
